We are a no kill shelter and thanks to the web, we have a very high success rate when it comes to placing dogs in the right homes. In the past few years, the United States has gone through some very tough economic times. We have seen so many people lose their homes to foreclosure and often, they are forced to move in with family or into a much smaller apartment that might not allow dogs of the kind they have. There are also breed restrictions and even breed bans that affect the places where people live today. We can not all always control our financial realities and sometimes that means a dog has to come to us. There are also those who fall victim to an illness or who go through a divorce and neither partner can keep the dog. So many different situations arise and we are not here to judge, we are here to help. We know no one gleefully gives the dog they love away and we also know that if a dog was loved once, it can find a great home again with a little work on our part.

The simple fact is, dogs of different sizes have different needs. Many shelters will not take large breeds such as Rottweilers, mastiffs, Great Danes or other big dogs. Our shelter is not like that. If we run out of space, we seek out more space because we know dogs do not stay long here at our shelter because we focus on finding new homes for them. The breed, age or size of the dog does not matter to us, we are focused on providing the dog with the best care we possibly can. We know that when you turn your dog over to strangers it can be scary and sad, but we are willing to give you a full tour of our facilities so that you can see for yourself just how much we do to give the dogs that come to us the best possible experience they could have in a rescue shelter. How Can You Help HaloHotDogs.com Give Dogs a Brighter Future Right Now?
There is always something that you can do if you want to help. All dogs need shots, food, exercise, affection and toys. We welcome volunteers and have a training program to teach you ways to interact with dogs of all types successfully. We can always use cash donations, of course, but if you prefer to donate to a veterinary clinic we take our dogs to instead, that is fine, too. You can also make donations of property, equipment, supplies or food. We deeply appreciate your wanting to take part in making dogs’ lives better!
